I'm sick of doing the SEO of the topic and leave these for the ones who are interested in it --222.64.214.173 (talk) 05:02, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

New section on Academic Libraries in Canada
[edit]I am planning to add a section under the history heading for academic libraries in Canada. This will provide a small extension in terms of providing a world view, which the article lacks. I will discuss how libraries have developed over the past century, how the role of academic libraries in Canada has evolved and challenges that Canadian academic libraries have faced. I will also incorporate some information on specific organizations that serve these institutions. --Frombritain (talk) 16:09, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
New reference for further reading
[edit]I added a new reference in the further reading section to a paper I found on an internet blog. This paper was conducted at the University of British Columbia and examines social media in University/research libraries.--Frombritain (talk) 02:23, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
List of Academic Libraries
[edit]Does anyone think making one of these would be a good idea? If so I can do it. Semccraw (talk) 16:11, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Do you have any idea about how many libraries that would be? A few thousand? There might be lists that could be linked to, which probably is a better idea. --LPfi (talk) 08:01, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
There doesn't seem to be a list of academic libraries that we could link to on Wikipedia. I'm not even sure how useful it would be. However, a list of the largest academic libraries (over a predetermined amount of volumes) might be useful.I would be happy to work on it. Mcgowanlianna (talk) 18:47, 10 September 2013 (UTC)

See Also Links
[edit]Under "See Also" there are links for "Google Scholar and academic libraries," which just leads to the page on Google Scholar, and "Internet Search engines and libraries," which leads to the page on "Libraries" and jumps down to the section on "The Internet." I am removing these as I don't think they're relevant, though I will add the link directly to "Library." --Kelseyem (talk) 21:06, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
University Librarian Vs Academic Library
[edit]I noticed that "University Librarian" has been redirected to "Academic Library" which I believe ought not to be as the concept differs from each other.
University Librarian: is a professional librarian who oversees the day to day running of a university library and reports directly to the Vice-chancellor.
Academic Library: is a library that is situated in a higher institution learning to support the teaching, learning, and research of its parent institution.
From the above explanation, I believe, it is clear that the two concepts differ. Hence, it is important to discontinue the redirect to avoid misconception. Atibrarian (talk) 22:07, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
